# Moxa UC Series Setup

### Connect and Set Password

Configure your computer's network interface with the following settings:

* IP Address: `192.168.4.200`
* Netmask: `255.255.255.0`

Using an SSH client like [PuTTY](https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html) on Windows or the `ssh` CLI program on Mac OS / Linux, make an SSH client to the Moxa computer:

* IP address: `192.168.4.127`
* Username: `moxa`
* Password: `moxa`

Follow the instructions to accept the EULA and change the device's password. Record the new SSH password.

### Upgrade to Moxa Industrial Linux 4

Verify your version of MIL by running `cat /etc/os-release` on the command line. In the case of MIL3, you will see `Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)` in the output:

```
moxa@jcore:~$ cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)"
NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="11"
VERSION="11 (bullseye)"
VERSION_CODENAME=bullseye
ID=debian
HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/"
SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support"
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"
```

#### Prepare Installation Media

If you need to upgrade to MIL4, download `OS image for UC-1200A and UC-2200A Series (MIL v4.0.0)` from the MIL4 OS image from the [UC series resources page](https://www.moxa.com/en/products/industrial-computing/arm-based-computers/uc-2200a-series#resources).

Extract the files from the downloaded zip file and copy them to the root of a FAT32-formatted USB drive.

#### Upgrade OS

Plug the USB drive into the Moxa computer, and run the following command to mount it:

```
sudo mkdir -p /media/usb && sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb
```

Check that the drive was mounted successfully by running `sudo mx-interface-mgmt partition` and `ls /media/usb` :

```
moxa@jcore:~$ sudo mx-interface-mgmt partition
NAME     DEVICE          IS_MOUNTED  FS_TYPE  MOUNTPOINT
USB_p1   /dev/sda1       Y           vfat     /media/usb
eMMC_p1  /dev/mmcblk0p1  Y           ext4     /boot_device/p1
eMMC_p2  /dev/mmcblk0p2  Y           ext4     /boot_device/p2
eMMC_p3  /dev/mmcblk0p3  Y           ext4     /boot_device/p3
eMMC_p4  /dev/mmcblk0p4  Y           ext4     /boot_device/p4
moxa@jcore:~$ ls /media/usb
IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img
IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img.sha512sum.bin
IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img.sha512sum.bin.signed
```

Run the command to enable auto update, replacing the .img file name with the exact file name on your USB drive: `sudo mx-bootloader-mgmt image_auto_install -d USB -f IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img`

```
moxa@jcore:~$ sudo mx-bootloader-mgmt image_auto_install -d USB -f IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img
Image auto install configuration:
Image File: IMG_UC-1200A-UC-2200A_MIL4_V1.0.0_Build_25123007.img
Disk Name: USB
```

Reboot the computer to trigger the OS image installation: `sudo reboot`

#### Install OS Updates

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade -y
apt autoremove -y
apt clean
```
