# Network Layout

The Iron Pi should normally be connected alongside your data sources on a private local area network. the Iron Pi is addressed by default to operate on a 192.168.1.x network, but you can [change its network settings](/clarity-gateway/installation/readme/changing-the-ip-address.md) to operate in other address ranges like 10.1.1.x.
